Every GPU With 8GB+ VRAM
A cross-vendor history of GPU variants with at least 8GB of VRAM, including launch years and memory technologies.
The capacity that became a baseline
Eight gigabytes of graphics memory sits at a revealing point in GPU history. It was once a conspicuous workstation or flagship specification, then became common on mainstream gaming cards, and eventually became a line that software requirements could press against. Following the whole set avoids a familiar distortion: current buying guides discuss the capacity as though it appeared everywhere at once. The historical record instead shows a staggered migration across professional, enthusiast, and volume products.
This page includes 311 variants with at least 8,192 MB, from 2013 through 2026. It counts GPU variants, not unique model-name families. Nvidia supplies 167 variants, AMD 126 variants, and Intel 18 variants. “At least” is deliberate: 12GB, 16GB, and larger configurations belong to the same threshold set. A variant with less memory is excluded even when another configuration sharing its marketing name qualifies.
Why equal capacities age differently
Capacity is only one part of a memory system. Memory generation, effective data rate, bus width, compression, cache, and the processor’s own throughput determine whether 8GB supports a balanced design. Resolution and asset quality affect residency pressure, while professional applications may allocate memory in ways unlike games. That is why the table presents adjacent specifications and launch years rather than awarding a simple score. An early 8GB workstation card and a later mainstream card share a capacity milestone, not an interchangeable experience.
The tier also became a segmentation tool. Vendors could vary memory while reusing related silicon, creating configurations that looked similar in a family name but aged differently as workloads grew. Those variants are precisely why the unit must be stated. Collapsing them to one model would hide the product decision the page is meant to examine. No row here proves suitability for a particular game or application, and no missing specification is filled by assumption. The result answers a bounded question from sourced catalog fields: which variants crossed the 8GB threshold, how broad was vendor participation, and over what period did an exceptional capacity become ordinary?
